This is the official Web site for Matt Whipple, Computer Nerd (accept no imitations).  This site is the hub for my presence on the Web.  "Computer Nerd" is the nutshell description I use which allows for interested people to ask for elaboration while protecting disinterested people from techno babble.

I'm a general purpose computer nerd, though presently I focus most of my energies on engineering and architectural stuff.  I am a proponent of agile, outside-in development who has worked with many different languages and paradigms and enjoy exploring the alternative approaches to problems.  Presently I am primarily occupied with Java, JavaScript, and PHP (the languages that pay the bills).  I am a strong advocate of open source software which I personally use nearly exclusively, and recommend for others whenever it is a responsible choice.  I seem to have a knack for decomposition (the computer science kind, I try to avoid the biological) and discovering solutions that are simple and flexible.
